WHAT IS COACHING?
Coaching is when a coach and client partner in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize their potential. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole. The coach's responsibility is to:
Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
Encourage client self-discovery
Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
Hold the client responsible and accountable
IS COACHING THE SAME AS THERAPY?
No. Coaching and therapy are two different things. If therapists are surgeons, coaches are personal trainers.
Coaching helps functional people achieve their goals. It is not a substitute or replacement for therapy provided by a licensed clinician trained to treat mental, emotional, and psychological disorders.
If there are many unhealed wounds that may affect the coaching relationship, you should seek out another mental health professional.
WHAT TOPICS DOES COACHING COVER?
Coaching may make sense for you if you are feeling stuck in some way, and you are dealing with daily stressors and anxieties, negative thinking, confidence issues, or are having issues with relationships and communication. Anything from issues with work and relationships to creating healthy habits and working through negative thought patterns.
IF I WORK WITH SARAH, WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Sarah is an NYU Certified Coach who is passionate about helping others gain clarity and confidence in their lives, to take the steps to move forward towards their goals. As a Coach, Sarah empowers clients to change, improve, and grow.
WHAT'S SARAH'S PROCESS AS A COACH?
Before you get started with Sarah, she'll have a free 30-minute phone consultation with you. She'll ask a few pointed questions to understand what you're aiming to achieve, and from there can determine if coaching makes sense.
If you both agree to move forward, you'll officially begin your coaching relationship. During the coaching process, Sarah will listen and observe and ask a lot of questions. Even if you come to Sarah to tackle something specific, she'll want to gain an understanding of your life as a whole, as she believes everything is related and patterns may emerge across different areas of your life. She'll challenge your thinking at times, so you can open your mind and dig deep into the thoughts, feelings, and motives underlying the issue at hand. You'll not only gain clarity through this powerful process of inquiry but also have insights and gain confidence in what your next step(s) may be.
Sarah provides structure, energy, insight, and transparency into the coaching process, and will provide relevant tools when necessary. After each session, you'll have clear steps to take and Sarah will circle back with you and hold you accountable. All the way through, Sarah has your back and will cheer you on!
I'M NOT BASED IN NEW YORK. CAN I STILL HIRE SARAH AS MY LIFE COACH?
Absolutely! Sarah does her coaching virtually, via video chat or phone. She's had clients all over (literally), from places like San Francisco, Los Angeles, South Carolina, and even Sydney, Australia.
